2021 Granite Coast Vineyards Monterey Equoia Chardonnay

Description

The county of Monterey, south of San Francisco, is known as "America's salad bowl" because of all its agriculture. But did you know that this area – especially towards the coast – is also ideal for high-level viticulture?

The climatic conditions are suitable for both early and late ripening grape varieties. The proximity to the Pacific Ocean provides the perfect conditions for chardonnay and pinot noir: the warm, sunny days are tempered by refreshing winds and mist from the sea and alternated with cool nights. Further inland it is warmer and grapes such as cabernet and merlot come into their own beautifully.

Granite Coast Vineyards is considered one of Monterey's pioneers and makes distinctive quality wines. This Chardonnay comes from the cool, northern part of Monterey County. The grapes are grown in a sustainable way.

Once harvested, the grapes are pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve as much pure fruit flavors as possible. After fermentation, 70% of the wine also matures in stainless steel tanks, the remainder in new French oak barrels. It produces a beautiful Californian Chardonnay, with notes of tropical fruit, butter and toast. Pure temptation!
