The red Madxa (pronounced: 'madsja') comes from grapes from the Dão and Alentejo. Combining different wine-growing areas is becoming a trend, although it was already quite normal before the establishment of the controlled areas of origin.
Alexandre Relvas, the young winemaker trained in Bordeaux, combines the freshness and elegance of the Dão with the maturity and thickness of Alentejo wines. The result is a blend of the alicante bouschet, aragonez, castelão and touriga nacional grapes. A supple, accessible red wine that very distinctively retains the freshness and light tannins of the Dão. This makes it very suitable to drink with all kinds of savory snacks, lamb stew, soft cheeses and poultry.
