Tasting note Mourgues du Gres
Full yellow in color, nice scent with an intense aroma of flowers and ripe fruit tones. The taste is round, full and aromatic and ends well balanced with mild acids in the aftertaste. Excellent dry white wine, delicious with many fish dishes, but also chicken or veal.
François Collard makes a very original assembly of the grape picpoul and muscat in the Costières de Nîmes. These two grape varieties are often planted in South Fankrijk but come together for the first time in the Fleur d'Aubépine. François describes his vineyards with a northern exhibition as a cool terroir in a Mediterranean climate. Moreover, by harvesting the muscat early, the wine remains dry, lively and modestly aromatic. This makes it a special addition to the picpoul, which is known as a fantastic companion to the fruit de mers, so sought after in the South of France. The organic grapes ferment and ripen under controlled temperature and work is done during this process without additives. The result is a perfect, dry aperitif wine, full, fresh and with a tempting aroma.
