Tasting note Mourgues du Gres
Full yellow in color, beautiful in aroma with an intense aroma of flowers and ripe fruit notes. The taste is round, full and aromatic and ends balanced with mild acidity in the aftertaste. Excellent dry white wine, delicious with many fish dishes, but also chicken or veal.
François Collard makes in the Costières de Nîmes a very original assembly of the grapes Picpoul and Muscat. These two grape varieties are widely planted in South France but for the first time come together in the Fleur d'Aubépine. François describes his vineyards with a northern exposition as a cool terroir in a Mediterranean climate. Moreover, early harvesting the muscat keeps the wine dry, lively and modestly aromatic. This makes it a special addition to the picpoul, which is known as a fantastic accompaniment to the fruit de mers, so popular in the South of France. The organic grapes ferment and ripen under controlled temperature and work is done during this process without additives. The result is a perfect, dry aperitif wine, full, fresh and with a seductive aroma.
