The perfect companion of Fruits de mers

Picpoul de Pinet is the accompaniment to 'fruits de mers' and fish dishes in the many fish restaurants around the southern French coastal towns of Agde and Sète. This grape produces a fresh elegant white wine that is usually bottled without any form of barrel aging.

A few large cooperatives dominate the offer. But the artisanal small domaines such as the Château Font-Mars are the most interesting in terms of quality.

Owner Jean-Baptiste de Clock, who is descended from a Dutch family that emigrated in 1679, cultivates approximately 50 hectares of vineyards around Mèze, the center of Picpoul production. He makes an archetype Picpoul of ripe grapes with an excellent combination of juiciness and a fine balanced dry taste. Recommended!
