Description
What a masterful Port from top-notch Quinta da Romaneira. Winemaker Carlos Agrellos has succeeded in making it as intense and complex as it is refined and digestible. A perfect balance, a testament to great craftsmanship.
The Tawny is a blend of Douro grapes—Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinto Cão—harvested in the estate's own vineyards. After harvest, they are traditionally trampled by foot in large concrete tanks called lagares. Once fermented and fortified, the port matures in used wooden barrels until the final blend is made and the wine is bottled.
The 20 Years Old has a seductive, distinctive aroma of dried fruit, nuts, spices, and caramel. The palate is full and smooth, and the beautiful finish seems endless. This magnificent Port is a treat on its own and pairs exceptionally well with things like nut tarts, caramel desserts, or hard, aged cheeses. Enjoy it now, or after many more years of bottle aging.
