definition
Smith & Sheth is not just a duo. Steve Smith is a celebrity in the New Zealand wine world: he is a winegrower, one of the few New Zealand Masters of Wine and was one of the founders of the famous Craggy Range winery. Texan Brian Sheth is an investor and conservationist.
What connects the two is a huge love for New Zealand and – you guessed it – wine. Their dream was to make wines from the most beautiful terroirs in New Zealand. And so the impressive Cru series came about.
The grapes for the Sauvignon Blanc are harvested by the duo from old vines in Wairau, the Marlborough sub-region that is considered the historic heart of this famous wine region. The pebble-rich soils near Renwick here, because they retain heat, produce wines with an intense and ripe character. Thanks to the mature age of the vineyard, yields are low and grapes concentrated.
Once harvested optimally ripe, a simple vinification follows: the grapes are destemmed, crushed, softly pressed and fermented in 75% stainless steel tanks and 25% used, large oak barrels. The result is a magnificent Sauvignon Blanc that is without a doubt one of the best in New Zealand.
Drink at
Fragrant, fresh dry white wine to drink as an aperitif or with light dishes. Nice with salads with seafood, baked plaice with pea puree or soft, (goat) cheeses.
Tasting note
Complex dry white wine with an expressive scent of lime, passion fruit, granny smith and elderflower. The taste is purely fruity, intensely juicy and layered with refreshing grapefruit acidity in the long, refined finish.
shelf life
Now beautiful; keeps for at least 7 years after harvest date.

What do we think?: |
Dit is een geweldige wijn, heerlijk fruitig en lekkerder en meer divers dan een gewone Marlboro
Deze moet je gedronken hebben
