Wine master and maker Jürgen von der Mark from Baden owes his reputation to his great Spätburgunders, but he also appears to have a talent for Riesling. Von der Mark harvests the Riesling grapes from vines that are more than 20 years old. He lets the juice ferment partly with grape yeasts. After fermentation, he ages the wine for a few months with the groin in stainless steel tanks, for extra complexity and flavor intensity.

And indeed, this Alte Reben is not only pleasantly fresh, but also nicely round and full of flavour. With its typical Riesling nose of flowers and stone fruit, this is not only a wonderful wine to drink on its own, but also has a wide range of gastronomic uses. For example, try it with a refined starter with raw fish, or with chicken with lemon from the oven. Surprising!
