Tasting note Clos du Caillou Garrigues

Refined dry white wine with a complex aroma of mild citrus notes and a light spiciness. Pairs nicely with refined fish dishes, such as fried sole.

Description

The organic wines of Le Clos du Caillou are of exceptional class and refinement. Winemaker Bruno Gaspard and owner Sylvie Vacheron know - despite the warm Châteauneuf-du-Pape terroir - to bring a rare elegance to the wines. This also applies to the beautiful white wine made from Grenache Blanc (40%), Clairette (35%) and Viognier grapes. The average age of the vines is forty-five years and the yield in the vineyard is limited to forty hectoliters per hectare.

The grapes are harvested by hand, with a selection on the vine and a second after entering the cellar. Only the best and healthiest grapes are reserved for the Bouquet des Garrigues. The wine matures for several weeks in stainless steel tanks, is not aged in wood and is bottled at the end of January. This is top quality rhône.
