Tasting note Jaubertie Bergerac Rouge
French red wine with the scent of ripe dark fruit and new oak. The taste is firm and smooth. Goes well with grilled beef, duck breast or cheese and baguette.
Description
More than five years ago, Hugh Ryman – owner of this family estate – made a drastic decision: the cabernet vines were replanted at a higher plant density. This resulted in a positive effect on the quality of the red wines. The grapes gain more flavor concentration and reach full ripeness more easily.
In this part of the Bergerac - with climatologically more continental influences than the western Bordeaux region - optimal ripeness of the grape skins is crucial to make powerful wines with softness. In addition, Ryman limits returns due to a completely organic method.
The cuvée Mirabelle is the best wine of the domain thanks to a very strict selection of the grapes. The 2010 harvest produced perhaps the most beautiful wine Ryman has made to date. In addition to cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc, the wine contains approximately 45% merlot, which makes the taste wonderfully accessible. The blend of the three grape varieties matures for approximately sixteen months in small French oak casks. Although good Bergerac has its own style, Jaubertie is a serious competitor of more expensive Bordeaux.
