Description

Michele Manelli and his two partners have elevated Azienda Salcheto to the pinnacle of the appellation. He produces vino nobile as we believe it should be: with the elegant and fresh expression of the Prugnolo grape, without the dominance of oak.

Prugnolo Gentile is the local version of the famous Tuscan Sangiovese and the specialty of the village of Montepulciano. The vineyards of the azienda—a total of twenty hectares—are farmed entirely organically and are among the highest vineyards in the area. The yield is low (only one bottle per vine), resulting in a high-quality harvest.

The gentle extraction of tannins and pigments during fermentation and the aging in refined oak do justice to the grapes' superior quality. The result: a wine with elegance, fine tannins, and complex, beautiful aromas; a grand wine that, along with only two other producers, received the highest rating in the Gambero Rosso wine guide. Tuscany at its finest!
