Rosso di Montepulciano DOCG
Bright red wine from Italy full and fruity scent with nuances of cherries and herbs. Delicious with dishes from the grill and spicy pastas.
Sangiovese from Tuscany
Michele Manelli makes beautiful organic wines in Tuscany in the widely appreciated Montepulciano. He does this in the most natural way possible to preserve the maximum taste.
The buying guides (and we!) Love his pure and elegant wines that excel in quality. Due to his aversion to filtering and other technical interventions, the Salche red wines may contain a little tartar. These are crystals that precipitate in the bottle due to the maturation in the cool, underground cellar.
We see this phenomenon more and more in wines from artisan producers who work in a similar natural way and understand the choice of the winemakers. Salcheto's Rosso has maximum grape expression, is made from grapes from the younger vines in the Vino Nobile vineyard and ripens exclusively in steel tanks. The grapes used are sangiovese (85%), canaiolo (8%) and merlot (7%). Magnificent!
Freshness and elegance versus toughness and strength. You will discover distinctive differences between red wines from Sangiovese and Montepulciano. Come and taste these wines and determine your taste preference.
Delicious with grilled dishes and spicy pasta.
De Grote Hamersma - May 2020: 8.5 | Star wine: remarkably good | Juice and casual red cherry fruit
Could the Rosso be cut from the same cloth as Salcheto's Nobile? "Controlled, mature red fruit, optimal balsamic acids and a neat curl of pencil shavings. Almost in passing: orange zest and cocoa. A natural beauty, of undisputed class." Almost. Slightly less seriousness and concentration. A little more juice and casual red cherry fruit. Save the Nobile for a special occasion, then you can give it on any given day.
Perswijn - November 2017: 15/20 points
Plums and confiture, seduction, cinnamon, soft and juicy, fine and elegant, polished
Gambero Rosso 2013: Berebene, Oscar Nazionale
|Grape variety:||Sangiovese 85%, Canaiolo 8%, Merlot 7%|
|Taste:||smooth & refined|

|What do we think?:||Gerrit: The freshness and elegance is here fighting against the toughness and strength. What a feast in the mouth!|
