A full-bodied French red wine. Fine and intense aroma with ripe berry fruit and subtle spice. Excellent with spicy dishes, both stewed and grilled.

Description

Here too, Michel succeeds in drawing inspiration from the most famous northern Rhône wine, Côte Rôtie. Just as with this great example, he adds a few percent of Viognier to the Syrah, which gives the wine a pleasantly accessible character.

For this red wine, too, buds and unripe grapes are cut away. As a result, far fewer, yet riper, grapes are harvested. After hand-picking, a classic vinification process follows, followed by nine months of aging in French oak barrels. This is top-quality Syrah, concentrated, accessible, and fresh.

In art terms, you could call Michel Gassier a master forger. This talented producer of Costières de Nîmes copies the expensive
(35 euros+) Northern Rhône wines Côte Rôtie and Condrieu.
