Description
Saint Véran may not be as well-known as nearby Pouilly Fuissé, but insiders know that fantastic wines are made here in southern Burgundy. The low-yielding Chardonnay produces a top-notch wine that can rival the much better-known and more expensive white Burgundies from the famous northern communes. The estate of Jacques and Nathalie Saumaize (there are more winemakers named Saumaize!), with its fresh, almost mineral Burgundian style, is one of the best in the region. Their vineyard wine, En Crèches, reveals its highest quality after a few years of bottle aging.
