A delicious barbera
Exuberant Italian wine with a deep full red color and a fruity aroma of berries and cherries. The fresh, strong taste goes well with cold meat dishes, spicy pasta or grilled meat.
Claudio Conterno and Guide Fantino, the wine idols of Barolo
Conterno Fantino – founded in 1982 by Claudio Conterno and Guido Fantino – is now a wine icon in Barolo. As a representative of the modern barolo style, this producer makes fantastic and accessible wines from the nebbiolo grape. Fortunately, the two talented winemakers also have a passion for the barbera, the other famous grape in Piedmont.
The vines are in a prime location in Monforte d'Alba, right next to the best Barolo vineyards. The picking is late, not until October, and the yield is low. The ripening is therefore long and even, an absolute requirement to get the best out of this grape. Because unripe Barbera grapes, harvested too early from unfavorably located vineyards or from high yields, provide an unpleasant, aggressively sour taste. How different is this beautiful Conterno Fantino.
The ripe harvest and the ten-month stay in oak make it a pleasure to drink the wine in its youth. Preferably with a meal or with a nice Italian ham or salami.
