Local Portuguese grape varieties with a little Viognier
Fragrant dry white wine with a beautiful aroma of ripe yellow fruit, light oak, and floral nuances. The taste starts full, round, and aromatic, and finishes balanced, with a long aftertaste.
Alexandre Relvas from Portugal
This exceptional white wine is made from Antão Vaz, Verdelho, and a small amount of Viognier. The grapes are hand-picked early in the morning. The wine ferments at a low temperature; half in tanks and half in large 400-liter oak barrels. After this, the blend of both parts ages for approximately six months in small oak casks.
This luxurious method of winemaking has a distinctive influence on the aroma and taste, imparting more power and complexity. As a result, the wine also pairs well with white meat, poultry, and, for example, garlic prawns.
The vineyards of this beautiful estate are located in the Alentejo, east of Lisbon. According to many wine writers, this is currently the most exciting wine region in Portugal. For father and son, both named Alexandre Relvas, optimally ripe grapes and sophisticated vinification are the prerequisites for full-bodied yet soft wines. This sets them apart from mass producers who have to work with less uniformly ripe grapes.
