Characterful dry white wine with ripe fruit notes and floral notes in the scent. The taste is round and soft and has a long fragrant aftertaste.
Collio is one of the smallest Italian wine regions and, especially in the country itself, has a great reputation when it comes to fine, gourmet white wines. The location of Collio - east of Venice, against the Slovenian border - is special. It is a warm area, but thanks to the high location of the vineyards there is a big difference in day and night temperature. And that is extremely positive for the preservation of aromas and freshness in the grape. Gianni Menotti has been twice named winemaker of the year by Gambero Rosso - Italy's most prestigious wine guide. He owns about ten hectares of vineyard and produces various white wines, of which the pinot grigio really pleased us. This grape does not always have a good reputation, because in Veneto it is also made thin, meaningless mass wine. But with a low yield in a conveniently located vineyard, he shows his qualities. The pinot grigio of Ronco Blanchis ('hill of white' because of the planting of white grapes) has a classic Collio expression with a lot of structure and maturity, but also a subtle freshness and depth.
