Tasting note Angelis Verdicchio
A fragrant, dry white wine with notes of ripe yellow fruit (peach, nectarine), citrus, and flowers. Beautifully powerful, plump, and thick. Characterful, juicy, and refreshing on the medium-length finish.
Description
The Tenuta de Angelis family estate has been a staple in our selection for years, thanks to its delicious, authentic, and affordable wines from the Marche region. Father and son Fausti own vineyards in Offida, where their renowned Pecorino is produced, and in Piceno, where their fantastic red wines are produced.
This Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi is the latest wine from the Fausti family. Because the Fausti family doesn't own any vineyards in Castelli di Jesi, they've never been able to make a Verdiccio before. As it happens, their oenologist, Roberto Potenini, owns an estate in Castelli di Jesi. Through him, they were able to purchase Verdicchio grapes, naturally of excellent quality.
Creating an attractive and characteristic Le Marche wine from this is precisely Quinto and Alighiero's specialty. As befits a good Verdicchio, the wine boasts floral and stone fruit aromas, juicy, fresh acidity, and a hint of almond on the finish. It's an excellent aperitif, but also perfectly suited for dinner, for example, with a plate of pasta and clams.
