Description
Chakana is a small family-owned winery in Mendoza, Argentina, with a strong European influence. Originally from Italy, owner Juan Pelizzatti, along with Italian consultant and winemaker Alberto Antonini, has chosen a distinctive wine style. Chakana's flagship wine comes from vineyards in Luján de Cuyo, in the Haut-Médoc region of Argentina, and the cool, high-altitude region of Uco.
Naturally, the Malbec grapes are hand-picked, and the yield is low. After fermentation—spontaneous by natural yeast—this beautiful, elegant Malbec spends eighteen months in a mix of new and one-year-old oak barrels. The wood dosage is refined, clearly distinguishing this wine from many bombastic Argentine wines. Enjoy!
