Cap Saint Martin Battonage Prestige
What an excellent white Bordeaux from Cap Saint Martin! Concentrated, ripe, rich and nicely dry, it looks like a good Graves! But from Blaye, and with a much more modest price tag.
Pierre makes this striking cuvée from part of his sauvignon blanc, which he harvests by hand once perfectly ripe. The low yields in the vineyards ensure the beautiful concentration of flavor in the final wine.
After fermentation, Pierre ages the wine for six months in one-year-old wooden casks. Moreover, he uses bâtonnage: occasionally stirring the precipitated yeasts. This combination gives the wine extra flavor intensity and body and subtle notes of brioche and oak.
This white Cap Saint Martin is therefore a beautiful quality wine, which rightfully bears the name Prestige. Nicely dry, with expressive, ripe fruit scents, a full, round taste and a refined wood influence. An ideal white wine for a luxurious fish dish.
