Information
Wood-aged blend of merlot and cabernet franc
From beautiful terroir in line with Saint-Émillion
Great with classic meat dishes and mushrooms

Description

Denis Durantou – unfortunately passed away in 2020 – was considered one of the great and charismatic winemakers of Bordeaux. He owed his fame to his world-famous Château L'Église Clinet from Pomerol. It is less known that Denis also made beautiful Bordeaux at, for example, Les Cruzelles, Saintayme and Château Montlandrie: Durantou signature, but with a much more modest price tag.

We can now make you a very special offer from Montlandrie: the beautiful, matured 2012, bottled by Denis himself. It is made from 75% merlot and 25% cabernet franc from the domain's twelve hectare vineyard in Castillon. An excellent terroir, which with its soils of lime and clay and rolling, south-oriented slopes, shows many similarities with nearby Saint-Émillion.

The wine is aged in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new. This provides a nice balance between finesse and fruit expression on the one hand and ripeness, complexity and luxurious oak influence on the other.

Drink this beautiful Bordeaux in combination with a classic meat dish, such as lamb, duck or game, or with a dish with mushrooms. If necessary, carefully pour it into a decanter to separate the wine from its sediment. An opportunity not to be missed!
