From the oh-so-beautiful Ribeira Sacra area
Full red in color, intensely fragrant with beautiful ripe fruit notes of cherries and blackberries and dosed oak. The flavor structure is full and round and ends aromatic with soft, balanced tannins.
The Burgundian Finesse from Spain
Burgundian finesse from Spain. That is the concise description of this beautiful, elegant red wine from Ribera Sacra in Galicia. This area with its slate and granite soils and high, steep terraced vineyards has a magical sound to lovers of fine Spanish wines.
Dominio do Bibei cannot be compared with the well-known toppers from Rioja, Priorat or Ribera del Duero, but rather with a beautiful burgundy, chinon or even a refined côte rôtie. With the help of the legendary René Barbier (Clos Mogador in Priorat), the Dominguez family makes top quality red from 85% mencia grapes, supplemented with garnacha tintoreira, brancellao and mouratón. Picked by hand, of course, which cannot be otherwise on the spectacularly steep vineyards, and then slowly fermented in large cement and wooden vats.
The aging takes place for 20 months in 300 liter barrels made of French oak. After this, bottling follows and the wine continues to mature on the domain for another 18 months. The result is a unique combination of crispy fruit, freshness and a fantastic elegance. It is not without reason that it scores high with the writing wine press and is very popular in high gastronomy.
