Scheurebe expressive and crystal clear
An exciting, crisp, dry white wine with expressive, crystal-clear aromas of grapefruit, pineapple, and green herbs. Deliciously juicy, refreshing, and refined in flavor.
A deliciously fresh, dry white wine
The Thörle brothers owe their reputation primarily to their fantastic red Spätburgunders and white Rieslings and Silvaners from Rheinhessen. However, they also have a small plot of "alte Reben" (old grape) of the lesser-known white Scheurebe grape in the Schlossberg Grand Cru. Their father planted this in the 1980s in his quest for exciting new wines. They make a delicious, thirst-quenching, crisp, dry white from it, especially for us.
This is unusual, as Scheurebe is primarily used for sweet wines. Like the Riesling grape, this German cross of Riesling and Bukettraube also has an aromatic character and naturally fresh acidity that can beautifully balance the sweetness. Slowly but surely, more and more producers are discovering that this grape can also be used to make fantastic, intensely fragrant dry wines.
Christoph and Johannes prove this with this highly successful version. The brothers call this wine the German answer to the international Sauvignon Blanc. Ideal for enjoying in spring and summer. Given its expressive, slightly exotic aroma and wonderfully fresh, mild, and juicy flavor, we wholeheartedly agree with the brothers. Bring on those sunny terraces!
