Description
Biodynamicist Niki Moser makes all his wines with heart and soul, but the Ried Gänstreiberin Riesling holds a particularly special place in his heart.
Ried Gänstreiberin is a tiny 0.6-hectare plot, owned entirely by Sepp Moser and therefore considered a monopoly. It's also Niki's favorite vineyard.
The plot is located in the Erste Lage Gebling and has a dizzying 50% slope. The vineyards are therefore planted in terraces, facing south and southwest.
Once picked, Niki briefly soaks the skins in the juice. He then ferments the juice and ages the wine for a year in large Austrian oak barrels. The result is a pure, energetic, and layered Riesling with notes of pear, ginger, and almond and an intense, lingering flavor.
With its elegant and complex character, this Riesling is perfect for serving at the table. Niki's suggestions? All kinds of shellfish, or crispy Asian-style duck.
Drinking at
A beautiful, gourmet, dry white wine to enjoy on its own or with refined dishes. Ideal with shellfish, trout with snow peas, ham with mustard cream, or young, hard cheeses.
Tasting note
A lemon-yellow wine with a complex aroma of yellow flowers, ripe apple, pear, apricot, smoke, and honey. The palate is powerful and intense with ripe yellow fruit and a lovely freshness. A long finish with notes of mandarin, ginger, and almond.
