Description

L'Exclus is a unique red wine in the portfolio of the talented vigneron Denis Alary. It's an original blend of 50% Counoise grapes—the Pinot Noir of the south—and 50% Syrah. Furthermore, the fruit comes from a single vineyard, half of which qualifies for the prestigious Cairanne Cru status, while the other half qualifies only for "Landwijn" (Vegetarian). Denis finds this distinction ludicrous. He believes the entire vineyard is Cru-level, with L'Exclus as living proof. Since the first harvest in 2011, this cuvée has been in very limited supply, making it a true "vin de garage." The grapes ferment and mature, just like Cru wines, in large wooden vats (600-liter demi-muids). This allows for a well-balanced oak influence. An absolute find!
