Refosco, Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon

Full-bodied, fragrant red wine with an intense oak aroma, ripe red fruit, and caramel notes. The taste is soft and round. Delicious with ossobucco or pastas with rich sauces.

Friuli at its best!

Massimo di Lenardo is an all-round winemaker in Northern Italy's Friuli who produces both excellent white and beautiful red wines. The Friuli region used to focus almost exclusively on white, but the region proves to be very suitable for refined and elegant reds as well. The indigenous grape here is the late-ripening Refosco, which usually retains quite a bit of acidity.

Max Di Lenardo therefore blends the grape with the full-bodied, soft Merlot and the somewhat spicier Cabernet Sauvignon. Twelve months of barrel aging in small American oak casks makes the wine even softer and smoother. The result is a seductive, round wine with a delicious nuance of creamy oak. The wine pairs well with food but is also perfectly suitable on its own.
