Refosco, Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon
Full aromatic red wine with an intense oak aroma, ripe red fruit and caramel notes. The taste is smooth and round. Delicious with ossobucco or pastas with rich sauces.
Friuli at its best!
Massimo di Lenardo is an all-round winemaker in Friuli, Northern Italy, who makes both excellent white and beautiful red wines. The Friuli region used to focus almost exclusively on white, but the region also appears to be very suitable for refined and elegant red. The autochthonous grape here is the late-ripening refosco that usually retains quite a bit of acidity.
Max Di Lenardo therefore mixes the grape with the full, soft merlot and some spicier cabernet sauvignon. The barrel aging of twelve months in small casks of American oak makes the wine even softer and smoother. The result is a seductive round wine with a delicious nuance of creamy oak. The wine combines well with dishes but is also very suitable outside of the meal.
