Refined red wine from Italy with aromatic nuances of soft red fruit, lightly toasted oak, and spices. Elegant and smooth on the palate. Delicious with poultry such as guinea fowl or veal.
Description
In 1991, Agostina Pieri's son Francesco Monaci started viticulture. He bought vineyards planted with Sangiovese Grosso near Castelnuovo dell'Abate: a small medieval village in the southeastern part of Montalcino. Within a few harvests, Francesco was at the top of the region and achieved (the first from the DOC Rosso di Montalcino) the coveted three glasses in the Gambero Rosso.
Since then, Pieri's Rosso has been among the most sought-after wines from Montalcino. Francesco is a fervent supporter of an accessible and smooth wine style. Combined with the perfect ripeness of his hand-picked Sangiovese from low-yield vines, we dare say that many a – much more expensive – Brunello pales in comparison.
