Refined red wine from Italy with scents of soft red fruit lightly toasted oak and herbs. Elegant and soft in taste. Delicious with poultry such as guinea fowl or veal.
In 1991, Agostina Pieri's son Francesco Monaci started growing wine. He bought vineyards planted with sangiovese grosso at Castelnuovo dell'Abate: a small medieval village in the southeastern part of Montalcino. Within a few harvests, Francesco was at the top of the region and achieved (as the first of the DOC Rosso di Montalcino) the coveted three glasses in the Gambero Rosso.
Since then, the Rosso van Pieri has been one of the most sought after wines from Montalcino. Francesco is an avid fan of an accessible and smooth wine style. Combined with the perfect ripeness of his hand-picked sangiovese from low-yielding sticks, we dare to state that many - much more expensive - Brunello has the chance to check.
