Cederberg & the Merlot-Shiraz
David Nieuwoudt is currently the 5th generation owner of this beautiful winery in the northern part of South Africa. The vineyards are located in the Cederberg area of the same name at an altitude of over 1000 meters. The cool and very remote location results in a virus-free vineyard. Cederberg's wines are distinguished by elegance and purity of fruit aromas and flavors and win medals.
The red Cederberger is a fruit and supple blend of merlot and shiraz. After fermentation, oak maturation follows, but older barrels are deliberately used for this. The wood influence on taste and smell is therefore present in a nuanced manner. The round, soft tannins make the wine very drinkable.
