Alain Gayraud of Château Lamartine specializes in crafting an accessible Cahors style. His vineyard is located in the western part of the region, with more moderate Atlantic influences. This allows the grapes to ripen more evenly than in the cooler central and eastern parts of the area.

He is also a fervent supporter of 'micro-bullage', a revolutionary method invented by his good friend and innovative winemaker Patrick Ducourneau.
