Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah & Touriga Nacional
A full-bodied red wine with a powerful aroma of ripe red fruit (blackberries and currants) and fine oak. The palate opens full and rounded, developing ripe, soft tannins. The finish is aromatic and lingering.
Regional Alentejo, Portugal
This "colheita seleccionada" is made from four different grape varieties: Alicante Bouschet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Touriga Nacional. Together, they create expression and complexity in aroma and flavor. After fermentation, half of the wine is aged for approximately six months in large 400-liter oak barrels. This is followed by blending with the un-oaked wine. This creates a beautiful balance between ripe fruit notes and the influence of the oak. A beautiful Alentejo wine that also has a contemporary feel thanks to its soft tannins.
The vineyards of this beautiful estate are located in the Alentejo, east of Lisbon. Many wine writers consider this the most exciting wine region in Portugal right now. For father and son, both named Alexandre Relvas, optimally ripe grapes and sophisticated vinification are the prerequisites for full-bodied yet smooth wines. This sets them apart from mass producers who have to work with less uniformly ripe grapes.
Drinking at
Delicious with grilled lamb or beef, but also after a meal.

De Grote Hamersma - May 2020: 8+ | Star wine: remarkably good | Portuguese red with a nice broad berry chest
Description
Portuguese red with a lovely broad berry chest. It serves us bay leaf, red orange, and ripe blackberry. An espresso with a hint of vanilla sweetness thanks to four months of oak. And the bill, as is often the case in Portugal, is remarkably modest.

Hele prettige service
