Local Portuguese grape varieties with a little Viognier
Fragrant dry white wine with a beautiful aroma of ripe yellow fruit, light oak and floral nuances. The taste starts full, round and aromatic and ends balanced, with a long aftertaste.
Alexandre Relvas from Portugal
This special white wine is made from antão vaz, verdelho and a little viognier. The grapes are picked by hand early in the morning. The wine ferments at low temperature; half in tanks and half in large oak barrels of 400 liters. After this, the blend of both parts matures for about six months in small oak barrels.
This luxurious way of making wine has a distinctive influence on the smell and taste and gives more power and complexity. This makes the wine also taste good with white meat, poultry and for example shrimp with garlic.
The vineyards of this beautiful estate are located in the Alentejo, east of Lisbon. According to many wine writers, this is currently the most exciting wine region in Portugal. For father and son, both named Alexandre Relvas, optimally ripe grapes and a sophisticated vinification are the conditions for full and soft wines. This sets them apart from mass producers who have to work with less homogeneously ripe grapes.
