Tasting note Azienda Rizzi Barbaresco
An elegant Italian red wine with a delicate floral aroma and candied red fruit. Its round, fresh flavor pairs perfectly – after decanting – with refined game or beef dishes.
Description
Rizzi is known for its classic winemaking method, without the use of new oak or small barrels. After hand harvesting and fermentation, the wine is aged for twelve months in large 5,000-liter vats. Rizzi then transfers the wine to concrete tanks where it rests for another eight months. The result is a refined, elegant Barbaresco style with ripe tannins and beautiful, mature notes of the Nebbiolo grape. This is very typical of the region and untainted by oak aromas and flavors. The name Rizzi comes from one of the four crus in Barbaresco, and the thirty-five-hectare estate is owned by Enrico and Jole Dellapiana.
