Description
Friuli, Italy's northeasternmost wine region, owes its reputation primarily to its white wines. The region boasts a significant number of indigenous grape varieties, such as Friulano, Ribolla, Malvasia, and Verduzzo. Due to its location and history, the region also cultivates many grapes from France and Austria, such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Riesling, and Müller-Thurgau.
Massimo di Lenardo (known as Max to those close to him) created a beautiful reflection of this wealth of grape varieties with his prestigious wine, Thanks. It's a blend of no fewer than five different grape varieties: Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Friulano, Malvasia, and Verduzzo. To ensure only the highest quality grapes are used, the grapes are harvested by hand. After pressing, some of the juice is fermented and aged in new American oak barrels, and some in steel tanks. This creates an optimal balance of richness, toastiness, freshness, and fruitiness.
The Di Lenardo family has been involved in winemaking in Friuli since the early 1800s, and Massimo is part of a long tradition. It is thanks to his own efforts, but also those of his ancestors, that he can now produce such beautiful wines. Thanks is therefore not only a reflection of the potential of the Friuli region and Massimo's own skills, but also a tribute to his ancestors.
Thanks is therefore a special, exclusive white wine. A wine to open for a special occasion, or with a hearty meal. A wine that can be enjoyed now (preferably decanted in that case), but that can also easily age in the bottle for several years.
