Tasting notes Cour des dames Malbec
Deep red southern French wine from pure malbec. Seductive and fruity in character with aromas of blackberry and vanilla of the oak. Delicious glass for drinking, but also great with the barbecue or spicy snacks.
Malbec is extremely popular today. The grape is mainly due to Argentina, where it is the national pride. Originally, malbec is very French. Its home ports are Bordeaux, Cahors and the Loire, but winemaker Hilde Chevillot from Cour des Dames shows that you can also make delicious red wines in the Languedoc region of Languedoc.
This malbec is a beautiful composition of grapes from two different vineyards. The first is characterized by a shallow bottom that quickly heats up due to the presence of 'galets'. These flat round stones store heat during the day to release them at night. Here the grapes ripen easily, giving the wine a certain sultryness. The second vineyard, on the other hand, has a deeper soil and planting of thirty-year-old vines. The concentrated fruit of this place creates more layering and concentration in the wine. After the grapes have been harvested by hand, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. A small part of the wine then ripens in new oak barrels.
With its supple fruit, a touch of spiciness and full, seductive taste, the Cour des Dames Malbec is a very versatile wine. Flexible enough to drink, but also suitable for various snacks, pizza, pasta or meat dishes. Do not serve it too hot, ideal is 16 ° C.
