Description
Want to get acquainted with one of Australia's absolute top producers? Then try the red Billi Billi from Shiraz icon Mount Langi Ghiran. This wine may be the winery's affordable calling card, but it clearly showcases Mount Langi's excellence.
The grapes are harvested from vines averaging thirty years old in various first-class, cool-situated vineyards in Victoria. Part of the harvest comes from the Grampians – the sub-region with the impressive mountain range of the same name in the background, where Mount Langi is situated. A small portion even comes from the estate's own vineyards, which also produce the grapes for the legendary Langi Shiraz.
In the cellar, only natural yeasts present on the grapes are used for fermentation. To create a pure, fruity style, oak barrels are not used. However, the skins are regularly submerged for extra extraction of color and aromas.
The Billi Billi is therefore an intensely colored red wine, with aromas of ripe blackberries, spices, and cedar, and a smooth, seductive taste. A delicious, characteristic Shiraz, which is rightly considered a best value by critics.
