Want to discover one of Australia's absolute top producers? Then try the red Billi Billi from Shiraz icon Mount Langi Ghiran. While this wine may be the estate's affordable showcase, it clearly showcases Mount Langi's excellence.
The grapes are harvested from vines averaging thirty years old in several prime, cool-situated vineyards in Victoria. Some of the harvest comes from the Grampians – the subregion with the impressive mountain range of the same name in the background, where Mount Langi is located. A small portion even comes from the estate's own vineyards, which also produce the grapes for the legendary Langi Shiraz.
In the cellar, only natural yeasts present on the grapes are used for fermentation. To create a pure, fruity style, oak barrels are not used. However, the skins are regularly immersed for additional extraction of color and aromas.
The Billi Billi is an intensely colored red wine, with aromas of ripe blackberries, spices, and cedar, and a smooth, seductive taste. A delicious, distinctive Shiraz, rightly considered by critics to be a top value.
