Description
It's not often that we can offer a white Burgundy of this quality for under twenty euros. We are therefore all the more delighted with this find from Mâcon-Bussières, which performs exceptionally well for its reasonable price.
It is made at the small Thierry Drouin family estate, now managed by Thierry's son, Charles-Edouard. The estate is located in Vergisson, overlooking the famous Roche de Solutré, and produces Mâcon, Saint-Véran, and Pouilly-Fuissé.
The Mâcon-Bussières stands out in the range for its beautiful aromas, tension, vibrancy, and refined oak notes. The Chardonnay grapes for this wine are harvested in the "Le Vieux Puits" vineyard, named after the old well located there. The northwest exposure ensures that the grapes retain a lovely freshness despite Burgundy's southern location.
After harvest, the wine is gently pressed. Fermentation and maturation on the lees take place in 50% French oak barrels and 50% stainless steel tanks. This creates a beautiful balance between fruitiness and oak influence.
The result is a beautiful white Burgundy with refined freshness, ripeness, and power. Delicious on its own or paired with refined dishes or creamy cheeses.
