| From Burgunder specialist and Master of Wine Von der Mark | |
| Fruity, juicy and intense in flavor | |
| Delicious as an aperitif or with fish |
Jürgen von der Mark is what you would call a remarkable winemaker. He not only graduated as an oenologist from the University of Geisenheim, but also as the first German Master of Wine from the prestigious British Institute of Masters of Wine.
He makes his wines in the south of Baden, not far from Burgundy. Here, he focuses on making wines from the Burgundy varieties. Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) is his great love, but Jürgen also knows his way around Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc).
For this cuvée, he sources the grapes partly from his own vineyards and partly from befriended winegrowers. All the vines are at least twenty years old, which gives the wine a beautiful concentration of flavor. Once at the winery, Jürgen gently presses the Weissburgunder grapes. He allows the juice to ferment in stainless steel tanks and a small portion in tonneaux. The Weissburgunder then ages in these on the lees until bottling.
It produces a deliciously juicy, original, and refreshing white wine that works well as an aperitif, or accompaniment to light dishes. Jürgen himself aptly describes it as 'our wine for sun and fish'. It makes us thirsty!
Drinks with
Accessible, dry white wine to serve with drinks, as an aperitif, and with light dishes featuring fish or white asparagus.
Tasting note
Light yellow colored, crisp dry white wine with an inviting aroma of ripe pear, apple, and toast. Distinctly juicy and full-bodied with mild acidity and a good length on the palate. Delightfully easy to drink.
