Tasting note Buisonnier Chardonnay

Mild dry Burgundy with fine ripe fruit and light butter in the aroma. Great to combine with cold starters with meat or fish, but also delicious with poultry and fish dishes from the oven.

Description

In the summer of 2013, hailstorms wreaked havoc in the Côtes de Beaune. The result: a small harvest and rising prices, also of harvest years still available. Despite the dramatic reports, we found a classic white burgundy with an attractive price. A bit further south, incidentally, in the Côte Chalonnaise and at the Vignerons de Buxy, a cooperative of 120 family businesses.

The responsible oenologue Alain Pierre selects the grapes for the cuvée Buissonnier per parcel. The vineyards are located high on the hills near Buxy on calcareous gravel soil. An ideal basis for a low yield and a concentrated tasting long-ripening grape.

Part of the harvest ferments in stainless steel tanks and part in oak barrels. Both wines are assembled before bottling. It is not a complex white burgundy, but the wine offers a beautiful expression of the chardonnay from the Côte Chalonnaise. With the characteristic accessible round and slightly greasy taste.
