Complex wine with structure and length
Full-bodied, deep-colored wine with a refined and understated aroma of ripe fruit such as blackberries and berries and a light oak shade. The taste turns full and round with ripe tannin and a fresh aftertaste.
One of the most classic wine regions in Portugal has entered a new phase. Young winemakers have broken with the drying, matured style of the previous generation and now make world-class wines with elegance, on the so characteristic granite floor in the Dão. A nice example is the small Casa da Passarella where Paulo Nunes in the sub-region of Serra da Estrela manages to process the indigenous grapes into great wines. The Abanico reserva is a blend of hand-picked touriga nacional, alfrocheiro and jaen grapes that ferment in steel tanks. The aging of 12 months takes place in small oak casks of 225 liters, partly new and used. The wine is minimally treated and bottled unfiltered to preserve the maximum flavor. Recommended to aerate the wine before pouring.
