Portuguese red wine, with a zesty aroma of ripe red fruit and lightly toasted and spiced nuances. The taste is full, ripe, and balanced. A beautiful, structured wine, excellent with stews or grilled dishes.

Description

One of Portugal's most classic wine regions has entered a new phase. Young winemakers have broken with the drying, aged style of the previous generation. On the characteristic granite soil of the Dão, they are now producing elegant, world-class wines. A fine example is the small Casa da Passarella, where Paulo Nunes manages to transform indigenous grapes into great wines. This A Descoberta is made from Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro, and Jaen grapes fermented in open vats. Aging takes place primarily in cement tanks and, to a small extent, in oak barrels. The result: a complex, refined red wine. Tip: aerate this wine in a decanter.
