Description
In the northern part of Rheinhessen, Christoph and Johannes Thörle make incredibly tasty pinot noir on limestone-rich soil. Insiders regard the winery of the two talented brothers as the most up-and-coming domain in Rheinhessen. The impressive red Hölle Spätburgunder comes from the eponymous and best vineyard in Saulheim with a very low yield averaging 27 hl per ha. After fermentation in open wooden barrels, which lasts twenty to sometimes thirty days, the wine is then aged for twenty months in large oak barrels. Nevertheless, the influence of the wood on the smell and taste is well dosed and the pinot noir grape comes to a beautiful expression. Thörle writes: the style is very burgundy with refined acidity, elegant fruit tones and enormous complexity
