Five Generations of David Nieuwoudt
David Nieuwoudt is currently the fifth-generation owner of this beautiful winery in the northern part of South Africa. The vineyards are located in the Cederberg region of the same name, at an altitude of over 1,000 meters. The cool and extremely remote location results in a virus-free vineyard. Cederberg wines are distinguished by their elegance and purity of fruit aromas and flavors, and have won numerous medals.
Chenin Blanc is the white grape of South Africa. It is generally riper and softer in flavor than the dry white wines from the Loire Valley region of France. Cederberg Chenin is made in a modern way from early-harvested, cool-fermented grapes. The young wine is aged on the lees for about five months after fermentation for added fullness and suppleness.
