A concentrated Beaujolais

Jean Paul Brun is the idiosyncratic and much-discussed winemaker and owner of the Terres Dorées family estate in the south of Beaujolais. He makes authentic unsophisticated wine with great purity in smell and taste and a modest alcohol content. Early on, Brun went against the grain of winemakers who use additives and artifices to make lemonade-like Beaujolais that smells of candy and banana.

This Beaujolais cru is much more concentrated than an average Fleurie because Brun has a naturally low yield in the vineyard. The yield per vine is lower but the harvested grapes have more strength and flavour. A beautiful, very pure wine with a long aftertaste.
