With his red Prunus, modernist Carlos Silva presents a very different type of Dão than the drying traditional style with which the region has built up a bad reputation among many wine lovers. Prunus, on the contrary, has plenty of fruit, elegance, and an accessible taste.

The Touriga Nacional, Jaen, Tinta Roriz, and Alfrocheiro Preto grapes are hand-picked at the end of September. They macerate in the juice for only a short time to extract only the soft tannins from the skins. This is followed by fermentation, after which the wine ages in wooden barrels for approximately six months.

A fine example of an accessible, smooth red wine from the traditional Dão. Excellent with grilled and stewed dishes or a creamy, spicy cheese.

Prunus, the modern Dão with fruit and creaminess, is a true pleasure wine in both white and red. Naturally, more powerful and complex wines can also be found in this classic Portuguese wine region, but Prunus is exceptionally well made for this price and incredibly tasty too!
