Tasting note Château Mourgues du Grès Rouge
Beautiful full red color; spicy and fruity scent with notes of blackberries and mild spices. The taste is round and spicy with fine, ripe tannins in the aftertaste.
The red Galets Dorés from Mourgues du Grès has a beautiful, southern expression with the characteristic mild spiciness and full-fruity taste of Rhône wines. François Collard also shows with this wine that in a relatively warm region such as the Costières de Nîmes, with a low yield in the vineyard, you can harvest very ripe grapes with a fresh taste. No jam-like sweetness here, but crunchy fruit and drinkability.
After harvest, Collard ferments the Syrah, Grenache Noir and Marseland grapes in concrete vats and avoids contact with wood for maximum fruit expression. Also striking is the high degree of suppleness and perfect integration of the tannins in the taste through no less than fifteen months of aging in the tank. As a result, this characterful, mild-tasting, organic wine combines excellently with (spicy) dishes. Great class! In the warmer months, the wine is best cooled slightly.
