Chardonnay from South Africa
Full creamy white wine from South Africa aged in French oak. The fresh, soft taste combines well with fish and poultry. Also very tasty with pasta carbonara.
The Cape's 'white wine wizard', Carl van der Merwe, creates a range of stunning wines that are considered some of the best in South Africa. His Chardonnay is a fine example of clean, juicy New World style with seductive toast flavors and a pleasant freshness.
The vineyards are located in a relatively cool part of Stellenbosch. A first quality selection already takes place during the manual picking in the vineyard. The best grapes ferment by natural yeast and mature for seven months in used wooden barrels (75%) and stainless steel tanks (25%).
After ripening follows a light filtering but no more clarification. This preserves a maximum of flavor. Nice wine with fish dishes and poultry, but can also be used as an aperitif.
