White wine from Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc
An impressive dry white wine with notes of ripe tropical fruit, toast, and oak. The palate is round, balanced, and lingering on the finish: a wine with elegance, structure, and aromatic length.
Special bottle
The impressive white Paradoxe, launched in 2011, is of a level never before seen at Arjolle. François Teisserenc pulled out all the stops to create a sublime wine from primarily Viognier (60%) and Sauvignon grapes. These are hand-harvested in mid-September from a plot with no fewer than 9,000 vines per hectare.
This planting density creates strong competition, and the yield remains unusually low at 25 hectoliters per hectare for the Mediterranean climate of the Languedoc. This parcel, planted with Viognier and Sauvignon, is therefore among the very best vineyards of this family estate.
The wine is matured in new oak barrels from leading Bourgogne tonneliers and remains in contact with the lees for 10 months. We can only praise the result. Key words include balance, elegance, freshness, luxury, exceptionally refined oak dosage, and a long finish.
Pour the wine from a carafe, as good sommeliers do with exclusive white Burgundies or Rieslings. The aeration creates great aromatic complexity. It's easily a wine list favorite at top Michelin-starred restaurants!
