A delicious assembly from Coteaux du Pont du Gard
Full dry white wine from the south of France. Full color, powerful aroma with nuances from ripe to overripe yellow fruit and honey. The taste is full, round and persistent, with mild acidity and a long, aromatic aftertaste. Ready to drink at least 1 year after harvest, can easily be kept for 3 to 4 years.
The old sticks from Terre d'Argence
François and Anne Collard from domaine Mourgues du Grès make their wines in Costières de Nîmes, between the Rhône and the Camargue. The grapes for their Terre d'Argence line come from vineyards with old vines, which ensures richness and concentration. That is what the name Terre d'Argence refers to, as well as to the silver shine of the rustling leaves of the olive trees in the vineyard.
The blend for the white Terre d'Argence is special: it is a combination of Rhône grapes Viognier and Rousanne and the aromatic Sud-Ouest grape Petit Manseng. Because the latter grape is not allowed in the AOC Costières de Nîmes, the wine is 'declassified' to IGP Pont du Gard. However, it is anything but a lesser wine!
Because the vines are old, yields are low and the grapes therefore have a very concentrated taste. After fermentation, in which no sulfites are used, the wine matures for another year, a third of it in wooden barrels. It produces a lush, rich white wine, with ripe fruit, roundness and minerality. Drink it preferably with a meal, from poultry and white meat to curries and spicy cheeses.
