Syrah from the Pays d'Oc
Full, smooth red wine with a rich taste. The scent is characterized by aromas of blackberry, blueberry and laurel. Mouth-filling, creamy and smooth in structure with a light spiciness in the persistent aftertaste. Can be enjoyed as is, or with spicy (meat) dishes. Shelf life up to three to four years after harvest date.
Domaine Coudoulet
Domaine Coudoulet's Syrah is a beautiful example of an expertly made, authentic, southern French red wine. The current global trend in the production of thick, creamy red wines with a lot of oak means that many wines are becoming similar and that the origin and even the grape variety are secondary.
Camille and Pierre André Ournac contrast this with their terroir-type Syrah. The grapes are picked at the right time, without traces of overripeness. They then ferment, almost without intervention, in concrete tanks. There is no maturation in oak barrels. This produces a 'fruit-based' red wine, which smells pure and seductive and has a beautiful balance of taste.
Sufficiently smooth to drink, but also fresh enough to serve with food. For example, think of tarte flambée, barbecues, or baguette with cheese and sausage. Serve the wine at room temperature, about 15°C, as is customary in the south of France. This makes this red wine even better.
