Tasting note Coudoulet Syrah
Full, smooth red wine with a rich taste. The scent is characterized by aromas of blackberry, blueberry and laurel. Mouth-filling, creamy and supple in structure with a slight spiciness in the persistent aftertaste. Can be drunk just like that, or with spicy (meat) dishes. Shelf life up to three to four years after harvest date.
The Syrah of Domaine Coudoulet is a wonderful example of a professionally made, authentic, southern French red wine. The current global trend in the production of thick, creamy red wines with lots of oak makes that many wines look alike and that the origin and even the grape variety are subordinate.
Camille and Pierre André Ournac contrast their terroir-typed Syrah. The grapes are picked at the right time, without traces of over-maturity. They then fermented, practically without intervention, in concrete cuves. No maturation in oak barrels follows. This gives a 'fruit-made' red wine that has a pure and tempting scent and a wonderful taste balance.
Sufficiently supple to just drink, but also fresh enough to serve with food. Think of tarte flambée, barbecues, or baguette with cheese and sausage. Pour the wine under room temperature, at around 15 ° C, as is used in the South of France. This way, this red wine comes into its own even better.
